The other day I was reading a question from a potential plastic surgery patient inquiring about what the “Quilting” technique used in Tummy Tuck procedures. In my Denver plastic surgery practice, I have been utilizing the “Quilting” technique underneath the flaps of all of my lifting procedures, including the Mommy Makeover, Tummy Tuck and Body Lift procedures, for several years.

Remember when your mother told you “If it sounds too good to be true….”? That old saying rings true the supposed “No Cut Tummy Tuck.” Like so many other hyped treatments or procedures being toted in the cosmetic surgery industry, this is another example where marketing jargon is used to promote a treatment.
A Closer Look at the Tummy Tuck
The “Tuck” part of a Tummy Tuck (Abdominoplasty) procedures is where a plastic surgeon tightens the supporting tissues below the skin. I call this layer of tissue that attaches our … Read More

Now days there are numerous procedures and products claiming to diminish fat. With the flick of a switch or the zap of the newest laser all of your unwanted fat can become nothing more than an unpleasant memory. As a patient, you should stop and ask “Are these treatments too good to be true?” In short, Yes! These so called “quick fix”, “painless”, “lunch hour” treatments consistently offer less recovery time and miraculous results, when truth be told the marketing is typically more effective than the treatment itself.

Like millions of other people, some of our staff is addicted to the hit ABC medical drama, Grey’s Anatomy. Working in a medical practice we can’t help but be curious about the medical authenticity behind the show from time to time. Over the years I’ve personally chatted with numerous doctors from ER physicians to OBGYNs (who can forget the famous two uteruses episode), neurologists and, of course, a plastic surgeon. So after last Thursday’s episode featuring a gynecomastia case my interest was once again peaked.
